Who We Are
DC Fray is DC’s largest lifestyle community with nearly 45,000 annual participants in 2016. Our mission is to Make Fun Possible!
To accomplish that mission we organize social sport leagues, special events, and increasingly promote news and information that helps our members have fun! From Kickball leagues to tubing trips and bar crawls to new year’s eve parties, DC Fray holds a unique place in the fabric of the city. With portions of our league dating back to 2004 we have over a decade of experience creating incredible experiences for our members and strong relationships with our partners.
To accomplish all we do we have pulled together an amazing team of individuals with an eclectic background in marketing, sports management, community development, business administration, and event planning. Interning at DC Fray will give you the opportunity to have direct hands on experience and mentorship in a way that other internships just aren’t able to provide.
We look forward to you joining our team!
The Internship Program
Most students will complete a 300-400 hour internship to satisfy graduation requirements. This equates to 40 hours per week for 7-10 weeks. Some students will need to stay longer and some will have shorter practicum requirements with less time commitment. These cases will be addressed individually but typically interns must be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week for a minimum of 6 weeks to be considered for placement. Interns are hosted year round with flexible schedules!
We pay $150/month stipend to all interns, to help cover their transportation costs related to the position, for the duration of their internship.
Students have three specific areas of specialization to select from: Graphic Design, Content Marketing, and Data Analysis.
Interns can also expect that there were be several areas of the business that each position will get exposed to, but will not be the focus of their internship. On top of their daily activities and exposure, they will be given a "master" project in their area of interest.
Students will work alongside their department Manager developing marketing and branding strategies, allocating marketing dollars for different media outlets, developing ads, creating social media promotions, doing research and more.
The Content Marketer will be responsible for cross-functional tasks and projects including:
Assist in research, development and curation of content ideas and research as needed
Identify opportunities for content promotion and content partnerships with various publishers, brands and blogs online
Prepare analytical reports to understand effectiveness of various marketing campaigns
Working with on and off-site teams to create and implement engaging social media content and campaigns
Assist in developing content calendars on a weekly and monthly basis
Running Targeted Digital + Social Ads
Provide support to our marketing team at live and online events
The ideal candidate will enjoy taking the initiative, work on multiple projects independently and be eager to learn marketing from the inside out. Candidates with a strong desire and aptitude to have a content marketing role following graduation will have the opportunity to build their resume with specific and substantive projects.
Interns will focus on the following:
To apply interns should prepare their "pitch" on which area they are interested and why they would be a great fit for DC Fray! Interns should include links to any portfolio items or resources that will help us in our selection process.
